Pull up a bar stool
and let's chat for a while…
I've been sewing since the age of 12 when I made an apron in Home Economics class. I made a quilt in the late 1970's with scraps left-over from making clothes for my children. The backing was a bed sheet and I hand quilted it on a large hand-quilting frame.
Needless to say, I had no desire to make another quilt for many years.
Fast-forward to 1999…….I went to Joann Fabrics for some Halloween costume fabric and I purchased a Quilt Block of the Month on clearance for $2. I went home, assembled that block and my quilting journey had begun.
Until July 19, 2007, I did all my quilting on my, now, 8 year old Janome machine. My first try at stippling was a success, due to the fact that I decorated cakes for more than 20 years and there is a cake decorating technique called "Cornelli Lace" that is exactly like micro-stippling.
I have been a Pattern Tester for Marcia Hohn's quilterscache.com for several years, making test blocks using her directions and submitting a photo, before she publishes them online. The quilt blocks shown on my homepage are some of the photos of actual blocks I have made.

My long-arm quilting studio is in our home, which is smoke-free and pet-free. My machine is a Gammill Premier Plus on a Home-Pro steel stand. I have named the machine Mabel because she shares the room with a 12' long L-shaped bar. She is a stitch-regulated machine, which means that each and every stitch is the same length. We bonded very quickly and I feel like I have been long-arm quilting for years.
